DESCRIPTION

Performed at best value for the Town of Florence through ADOT, this intricately phased project involved the construction of two new traffic circles at the complex intersections of SR 287 and SR 79B, as well as a new alignment for Florence Heights Drive. The dual roundabouts streamlined navigation for Town residents, Country Thunder festivalgoers, and agricultural transportation, while significantly reducing the traffic backups caused by the previously inadequate intersection designs. Importantly, the roundabouts improved safety by slowing traffic, thereby reducing the potential for accidents and enhancing pedestrian safety at these key intersections.

PRECONSTRUCTION SERVICES

During preconstruction, Banicki took the lead in collaborating with Kimley-Horn and ADOT to rephase the project for maximum efficiency. Banicki successfully rephased the project and developed new traffic control plans that eliminated significant traffic shifts and detouring traffic outside of their normal travel lanes. A critical aspect of the project was maintaining sufficient and consistent lane widths to accommodate large agricultural trucks and equipment that regularly pass through this key transportation route. The new phasing minimized the number of construction phases and ensured that, even during peak construction activities, agricultural operations could continue unimpeded.
