DESCRIPTION
This CMAR project involved the reconstruction and widening of 1.54 mile of Stardust Trail Road in the Doney Park community of Flagstaff, specifically within the Frontier Hills HOA. Banicki’s field teams worked directly with over 60 homeowners along Stardust Trail Road, coordinating 82 driveway transitions to match unique residential needs. There were four different types of driveway matchups tailored to match each resident’s specific driveway type, including AC pavement, gravel, graded cinders, and dirty cinders. Every driveway connection was carefully handled to ensure seamless access for residents, with Banicki’s teams orchestrating all interactions to avoid disruptions.
Throughout construction, Banicki prioritized clear communication, responsiveness, and flexibility, keeping the community informed and minimizing disruptions. In collaboration with CCPW and Doney Park residents, Banicki developed non-invasive traffic control plans that maintained traffic flow in both directions while ensuring uninterrupted access to each home along the project corridor. This accelerated construction approach enabled Banicki to complete the entire project in just three months, earning strong praise from the community for the team’s careful, considerate, and efficient execution.
PRECONSTRUCTION SERVICES
Within the first month of preconstruction at the 60% design stage, Banicki developed cost models for four different AC structural pavement sections. This rapid costing and analysis allowed CCPW and designer Peak to quickly identify the most cost-effective AC pavement solution for the project. Banicki also collaborated with CCPW to source recycled millings and aggregates, achieving substantial value engineering by repurposing project millings for shoulder buildup areas.
Additionally, Banicki crafted tailored traffic control strategies to address the unique needs of the Doney Park community. Working closely with CCPW and engaging with residents, Banicki developed multiple traffic control plans that kept traffic flowing in both directions while ensuring continuous access for all homeowners along the project corridor.
