DESCRIPTION
Delivered at best value for Maricopa County, this major intersection project involved the complete phased reconstruction of the MC 85 and 91st Ave intersection, as well as arterial road widening of both MC 85 and 91st Ave. At the intersection of 91st Ave, MC 85 was widened to seven lanes with dedicated left-turn lanes. Similarly, 91st Ave was widened to seven lanes at the intersection of MC 85, including both dedicated right and left-turn lanes. The project included widening and reconstructing 1.25 miles of MC 85 and 0.75 miles of 91st Ave. Two-way traffic was maintained throughout all phases of construction, with all work performed around existing SRP 69kV transmission lines and irrigation facilities.
The project limits were located among a network of warehouses and distribution centers in the City of Buckeye’s industrial corridor, necessitating meticulous traffic control and strategic phasing. To facilitate truck access to Logic Park, a fifth dedicated PCCP truck lane was added to eastbound MC 85. Throughout all phases of construction, traffic flow in both directions was preserved, along with unimpeded driveway access to Logic Park and numerous other businesses.
