George Lane-Roberts, PE – Vice President of Strategic Pursuits

George leads Banicki’s preconstruction and alternative delivery pursuits, collaborating closely with owners, designers, utility providers, the community, and all stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution. He leverages his extensive experience in complex Design-Build and CMAR projects to drive success from the earliest stages of design. George’s expertise in alternative project delivery methods (APDM) is demonstrated by notable projects such as the award-winning $390M 11th Street Bridges and Interchanges Design-Build and the $450M Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge Design-Build – two of the largest transportation projects in the history of our Nation’s Capital. His energetic personality and work ethic enable him to lead all stakeholders with clear communication and meticulous planning, ensuring success at every stage of project delivery.

George began his career in construction as an engineering intern under Bill Spence, Chief Engineer of Skanska Civil Southeast. Though he initially enjoyed designing falsework and crunching numbers, he quickly realized his true passion lay in the fast-paced operations side of the industry. Before moving west and joining Banicki in 2019, George spent a decade managing high-profile bridge and heavy highway projects in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area for companies like Skanska, OHL Group, Tutor Perini, and Archer Western.

A Northern Virginia native, George is a proud civil engineering graduate of Virginia Tech – Go Hokies! He’s the biggest Washington Football fan currently residing in Arizona (if not the world) and remains optimistic that he will witness another championship season in his lifetime. In his free time, George loves being outdoors with his young daughter, perfecting his BBQ smoking skills, biking, and striving to be the best dad to a future professional fly fisherwoman.

Dave Saquella – Chief Estimator

As Chief Estimator, Dave manages and directs Banicki’s estimating department and resources to develop detailed cost estimates, quantities, and scope narratives. He is responsible for overseeing and developing intermediate preconstruction estimates, GMPs, cost models, APDM estimates, traditional DBB applications, and Banicki’s advanced in-house takeoff system capabilities. Dave and his team work closely with Banicki’s operational staff to ensure estimates provide best value for our clients by delivering the most optimal means and methods inline with accelerated scheduling.

Dave began his construction career as an estimator and field engineer for Kiewit, working on the intricate Lake Pleasant Dam Removal Project. He joined Kiewit after earning two bachelor’s degrees from Arizona State University in Construction Management and Mechanical Engineering. With 34-years of experience, Dave has comprehensive expertise in all aspects of public works estimating – specializing in municipal roadways, drainage, utilities, mass earthwork, and heavy civil construction. He has served as Chief Estimator on numerous public works projects ranging from $5K to $80M and is well-versed in federally funded projects. Dave has also served as Chief Estimator for Ames and Achen-Gardner Engineering here in Arizona.

Dave’s interest in building began at a young age when his uncle, a master piano case finish carpenter from Italy, mentored him in the art of carpentry. During high school, Dave honed his skills by framing houses and building custom patios. Today, Dave remains passionate about woodworking and is also an avid outdoorsman. He enjoys spending his free time horseback riding, ATV riding, camping, and fishing with his daughter.
