CHANNEL WORK COMPLETE ON TERAVALIS PHASE 1 MASTER-PLANNED COMMUNITY – SITE DEVELOPMENT

November 8, 2024 – Banicki completed the site development on 92,823 SY of drainage channels with 12” deep cement treatment and riprap at the 1,260-acre Teravalis master-planned community in Buckeye. Banicki’s site development scope also includes 4,729 LF of CIP box culverts, of which we have completed 60% of the structures. We’re laying the essential groundwork for what will soon be a thriving community!

BEALE STREET STREETSCAPE REVITALIZATION CMAR WINS TWO DESIGN AWARDS!

October 18, 2024 – At this morning’s American Council of Engineering Companies of Arizona (ACEC Arizona) Engineering Excellence Awards breakfast, WSP took home two design awards for the Beale Street Streetscape Revitalization CMAR!

This entire CMAR Project showcased exceptional teamwork and innovation between WSP, the City of Kingman, Harrington Planning + Design (HP+D), and Banicki. Together, we delivered a comprehensive revitalization of Beale Street, while maintaining unimpeded pedestrian and business access throughout all phases of construction.

During preconstruction, Banicki worked tirelessly with WSP, the City, HP+D, and all utility owners to mitigate major utility relocations. With the scope including building façade-to-façade reconstruction, LID tree planters, landscaping, irrigation, architectural concrete, and decorative streetlights, we collectively mitigated 90% of utility conflicts during the design phase.

This Project exemplifies what can be achieved through collaboration and innovation!

NATIONAL ASSOCIATED GENERAL CONTRACTORS OF AMERICA (AGC) – SAFETY AWARD

October 8, 2024 – Banicki was one of only four contractors in the State of Arizona to be awarded the National Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) safety award for achieving outstanding safety performance for the year of 2023. For the second consecutive year, Banicki has received this National AGC award for maintaining a zero-incident rating.

This award is a testament to the unwavering commitment of our safety managers, project teams, field crews, and leadership, whose daily dedication has made our safety culture one of the strongest in the nation. We are truly honored by this recognition and remain steadfast in our goal of maintaining the highest standards of safety for every person who steps onto our job sites.

RIBBON CUTTING – SR 179 PEDESTRIAN UNDERPASS AT OAK CREEK OPENS FOR SEDONA!

September 17, 2024 – We are pleased to announce the official completion and opening of our latest project – the SR 179 Pedestrian Underpass at Oak Creek for the City of Sedona! This project plays a vital role in enhancing pedestrian safety and connectivity in one of the state’s most renowned destinations. The underpass allows for safe passage beneath SR 179, providing easy access to the Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village without the need to navigate the busy highway.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the City of Sedona and designer firm WSP for their invaluable partnership on this project. Together, we have delivered a solution that seamlessly blends functionality with the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, creating a lasting benefit for the community.

ADOT I-17 JW POWELL BRIDGE UPDATE – NEW BRIDGE AND ROADWAY OPEN!

August 28, 2024 – Banicki is proud to announce a major milestone this week as we successfully opened the new JW Powell Bridge to traffic ahead of the Coconino County Fair yesterday. Despite facing an extremely intense monsoon season, our dedicated superintendents and crews worked tirelessly day and night to achieve this critical goal.

We extend our sincere thanks to the entire project team for their outstanding partnership and collaboration. A special thank you to ADOT, Coconino County, Flagstaff Pulliam Airport, and HDR for your teamwork and unwavering support in driving this aggressively scheduled project to completion.

BANICKI SELECTED AS CMAR FOR HUNT HIGHWAY & ATTAWAY ROAD NEW INTERSECTION!

BEALE STREET STREETSCAPE & IMPROVEMENTS CMAR – PHOENIX MAGAZINE REVITALIZATION PROJECT OF THE YEAR!

July 12, 2024 – We are thrilled to share that our Beale Street CMAR has been named the 2024 Revitalization Project of the Year by Phoenix Magazine! Banicki would like to thank the City of Kingman and designer WSP for being such amazing partners on this challenging, yet extremely rewarding CMAR.

Kingman Mayor Ken Watkins praised the project, saying, “This is just going to make our great town even better.” We are proud to have played a part in revitalizing Kingman and improving its infrastructure for residents and visitors alike.

BOTH NEW ROUNDABOUTS OPEN ON THE SR 287 | 79B PROJECT FOR THE TOWN OF FLORENCE!

June 10, 2024 – Banicki successfully opened both new roundabouts on the $6.5M SR 287 | 79B Dual Roundabout Project for the Town of Florence. Major milestone and we are ahead of schedule with substantial completion set for August!

The dual roundabouts are designed to simplify the options for drivers navigating between the various roadways while reducing delays at the existing traffic signals. The roundabouts also promote safety by slowing traffic as motorists transition from one roadway to another, all without the queues associated with traditional stoplight-controlled intersections.

June 7, 2024 – Awesome grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony this Friday night for the completion of the Beale Street Streetscape & Improvements CMAR! A very big thank you to the Mayor and City Council for helping make this historic project a reality.

ADOT I-17 JW POWELL BRIDGE UPDATE – SUBSTRUCTURE NEARING COMPLETION

May 21, 2024 – Building a new bridge over I-17 with zero traffic impacts is no small feat. Here’s how we’re doing it:

  1. Meticulous phase by phase construction based off HDR and ADOT’s comprehensive plans.
  2. Banicki’s experienced bridge builders construct all of the new substructure in only two months.
  3. TPAC sets 22 prestressed box girders (105’-3” girder length) during nighttime operations starting on June 10th.

This four-night operation is designed to have zero impact on I-17 traffic. We’ll use the on and off ramps at exit 337 to route traffic through detours we’ve already constructed at the roundabouts.

BREAKING GROUND – NEW PEDESTRIAN UNDERPASS!

May 20, 2024 – Banicki has started construction on the long-awaited pedestrian underpass to connect Chaparral Park and Camelback Park in Scottsdale!

This new pedestrian underpass, located underneath Chaparral Road just east of the Hayden Road intersection, will significantly enhance safety by rerouting bikes and pedestrians along the Indian Bend multi-use path, eliminating the need to cross a major interchange.

BEALE STREET CMAR – SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION ACHIEVED!

May 15, 2024 – Today marks a major milestone on the Beale Street Streetscape & Improvements CMAR project for the City of Kingman – substantial completion has been achieved! Phase 3 will open to traffic tonight, showcasing the dedication from the City of Kingman, WSP, and Banicki throughout this historic CMAR.

Throughout this CMAR journey, Banicki has prioritized unimpeded access for local businesses, pedestrians, deliveries, and utility services. Tonight, we’re thrilled to announce that the pedestrian barriers will be taken down, allowing everyone to experience the full scope of the revitalized Beale Street.

SCHULTZ CREEK DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS CMAR – WATERMAIN UPDATE

May 14, 2024 – Our Schultz Creek CMAR has reached a pivotal milestone with the 20” DIP watermain tested, installed, and ready to be connected to the existing watermain. This Saturday at 0530 AM, Banicki is set to work around-the-clock to connect the watermain, ensuring minimal impacts to the Flagstaff community.

SCHULTZ CREEK DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS CMAR – DRONE UPDATE

May 11, 2024 – This emergency flood control CMAR for the City of Flagstaff (COF) involves the rapid construction of a double-barrel box culvert underneath US-180 to establish a relief route for stormwater flows through Schultz Creek. This CMAR is of paramount importance due to its critical nature to alleviate flooding in the surrounding community. The project involves many highly technical aspects, including various shoring methods and utility relocations. Despite the challenges posed by the tight work area, Banicki developed traffic control plans and construction phasing that ensured the uninterrupted flow of two lanes of traffic on US-180.

Drainage Scope: 848 LF of precast ADOT SD 6.20 8’ x 5’ box culvert (the first use of SD 6.20 precast in ADOT ROW) | 1.0-acre sediment basin inflow | 0.75-acre alluvial fan outflow |15,635 CY drainage excavation | Rio de Flag gabion basket structures.

Despite facing a challenging winter and enduring eight significant rain days in March, Banicki is proud to recognize our exceptional crews and veteran Superintendent, Bob Fried, for their dedication in keeping us ahead of schedule on the Beale Street CMAR Project. With the final Phase 3 paving slated for May 1, Banicki is on track to complete the Project before the end of May as planned.

March 28, 2024 – The Joint Venture Team of Banicki, Texas Sterling, and Kimley-Horn (TSB) has received an official notice to proceed with the design on the $58M Taxiway Lima Design-Build Project at Houston Airport System’s Ellington Airport.

Taxiway Lima will provide a direct route from Runway 4 / 22 at Ellington Airport to Axiom Space at the Houston Spaceport. Axiom Space, in collaboration with NASA, is currently designing and constructing the world’s first commercial space station. CMAR FOR ACCELERATED 1.5 MILE ROAWAY RECONSTRUCTION

March 5, 2024 – Following the evaluation of Statements of Qualifications (SOQ), Banicki has been chosen as the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) for the Stardust Trail Widening & Reconstruction Project by Coconino County Public Works. This accelerated and time-critical project involves reconstructing and widening 1.5 miles of roadway in the Doney Park community. Banicki is excited to continue our partnership with Coconino County Public Works and collaborate with Peak Engineering and the Doney Park community to strategize, phase, and execute this project by June 30, 2024.

MC 85 – 25,000 TONS SUPERPAVE AC & 35,000 SY MICROSURFACING COMPLETE!

January 21, 2024 – This Sunday, Banicki proudly completed the final phase of the $12.5M MC 85: 95th Ave to 87th Ave Project for Maricopa County in Buckeye. Our Team successfully placed 25,000 tons of Superpave asphaltic concrete and performed 35,000 square yards of micro surfacing on the Project.

We’re excited about the significant positive impact this Project will have on the community, specifically traffic flows through the West Valley’s Industrial Corridor. Looking ahead, we remain committed to contributing to the ongoing development of Maricopa County!

BEALE STREET CMAR UPDATE: ADVANCING TO THE FINAL PHASE 3!

January 16, 2024 – Today, Banicki successfully opened Phase 2 to traffic on the Beale Street Streetscape & Improvements CMAR and broke ground on the final Phase 3, completing six months of work exactly on schedule! We are excited to complete the final two blocks of the historic Beale Street rebuild for this signature project in the next few months. It has been fantastic working with the City of Kingman, Beale Street businesses, the Kingman community, and Design Firm WSP on this iconic Project.

CMAR FOR CRITICAL STORMWATER INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT

December 1, 2023 – After SOQ scoring and interviews, Banicki has been selected as the CMAR on the Schultz Creek Drainage Improvements at US-180 Project for the City of Flagstaff. This critically important stormwater improvement project includes a 400’ long double 8’ x 5’ box culvert across US-180 and numerous other scopes to reduce post storm event flooding. Banicki is thrilled to start partnering with the City of Flagstaff, SWI, ADOT, and all project stakeholders to plan, phase, and construct this Project before July 1, 2024.

PROJECT UPDATE – BANICKI’S ROADWAY CREWS TRANSFORMING MC 85

September 19th, 2023 – Banicki has reached a substantial milestone on the third and final major phase of the MC 85 at 91st Ave Project for Maricopa County, starting lime and cement stabilization on the westbound lanes of MC 85 today. This critical project widens MC 85 to five lanes from 95th Ave to 87th Ave, widens 91st Ave to five lanes, and completely revamps the MC 85 & 91st Ave Intersection.

Banicki’s roadway crews are surging ahead, remaining over a month ahead of schedule with all construction set to complete by year end. Traffic flows through the vital corridor have already improved substantially with construction complete on the eastbound lanes of MC 85 and both directions of 91st Ave.

GROUNDBREAKING – BANICKI STARTS CONSTRUCTION ON HISTORIC STREETSCAPE CMAR

July 10th, 2023 – Banicki broke ground on the historic Beale Street Streetscape & Improvements CMAR for the City of Kingman. This signature project will completely revitalize the historic downtown area of Kingman, Arizona with a full roadway rebuild and streetscape beautification of Beale Street.

In October of 2022, Banicki kicked off an intense 9-month preconstruction phase with designer WSP and the City of Kingman Public Works Department. Through a partnered and collaborative preconstruction approach that included over 40 value engineering initiatives, design modifications, and cost saving innovations, all parties are thrilled for this monumental day.

PROJECT UPDATE – MC 85 PHASE II TRAFFIC SWITCH

June 23rd, 2023 – Banicki’s Team has completed Phase I of the $12.5M MC 85: 95th Ave to 87th Ave Project for Maricopa County in Buckeye. Phase II traffic switch will take place tonight, placing traffic on the newly completed southbound lanes of 91st Ave. Throughout all phases, traffic will be maintained in both directions.

Next week we will begin to demo the northbound lanes, removing the existing pavement section, lowering the waterline, cutting subgrade, and performing cement stabilization.

GROUNDBREAKING – BANICKI STARTS CONSTRUCTION ON CRITICAL FLOOD CONTROL PROJECT

May 25th, 2023 – Banicki broke ground on the critical Mount Elden Lookout Road – Shultz Creek Crossing Improvement Project for Coconino County Public Works in the City of Flagstaff. Following the Pipeline Fire in 2022, storm water flows within Schultz Creek Wash drastically increased, frequently overtopping and forcing the closure of Mount Elden Lookout Road.

The Mount Elden Lookout Road – Shultz Creek Crossing Improvement Project includes replacing the existing 36” CMP crossing with a triple barrel 8’ x 4’ box culvert, roadway reconstruction, as well as upstream and downstream channel improvements to help mitigate impacts of high-volume monsoon flows through the area. CONTECH® ArmorFlex® ACB’s will be installed at the outflow of the box culvert over Kinder Morgan’s easement.

Banicki has been partnering with Coconino County Public Works and Natural Channel Design on this project since February at the 60% design stage. We are pleased to announce we broke ground the same day we obtained NEPA clearance for the work which occurs within the Coconino National Forest and FEMA floodplain.

Thank you to Coconino County Public Works, Natural Channel Design, Kinder Morgan, Lumen, and APS for letting us provide preconstruction services for this vitally important project. We look forward to rapidly constructing this project for the residents of Flagstaff before monsoon season.

PROJECT UPDATE – SUPERPAVE AC PAVEMENT COMPLETE ON MC 85 PHASE I

May 24th, 2023 – Banicki finished placing 12,300 tons of ¾” Superpave AC pavement for Phase I of our MC 85 Project. We are continuing to make great progress with the Phase 2 traffic switch coming in mid-June.

DRONE FOOTAGE – $11.1M MERIDIAN ROAD PROJECT COMPLETE

Banicki is proud to say we recently completed the final 1-mile stretch of Meridian Road for the Town of Queen Creek, the fastest growing city in Arizona. This vital stretch of new roadway was the final piece in connecting the Town with SR-24.

PRESS RELEASE – BANICKI BREAKS GROUND ON $12.5M MC 85 PROJECT FOR MARICOPA COUNTY

January 16th, 2023 – J. Banicki Construction, Inc. (Banicki) broke ground on the $12.5M MC 85: 95th Ave to 87th Ave Project (the Project) for Maricopa County in Buckeye, Arizona. The Project includes the complete overhaul and expansion of the vitally important MC 85 and 91st Ave intersection located in the heart of the West Valley’s Industrial and Technological Corridor. The Project is centrally located amongst numerous warehouses and distribution centers – thus traffic control logistics and phasing are critical elements. Further scope includes full road reconstruction and widening, 25,000 tons of Superpave High Traffic AC pavement, stormwater infrastructure, lime stabilization, micro surfacing, electrical systems, new signalized intersections, and ITS systems.

2023 ARIZONA AGC BUILD ARIZONA PROJECT OF THE YEAR!

Banicki is honored to have been awarded the 2023 Arizona AGC Build Arizona Project of the Year Award for our performance on the Terminal 4 South 1 Concourse Concrete Apron Project at Sky Harbor International Airport! ($10M – $50M new construction category.)

As one of the busiest airports in the world, the Terminal 4 South 1 Concourse Concrete Apron Project (T4 S1) serves a critical purpose for Sky Harbor International Airport, allowing the airport to meet increased passenger traffic demands by increasing Sky Harbor’s annual passenger handling capacity by three million.

Banicki’s new aircraft apron work was performed concurrently with McCarthy Building Companies’ construction of the new $310M Terminal 4 South 1 Concourse, a state-of-the-art building named ENR Southwest’s 2022 Project of the Year for the airport / transit category.

T4 S1 was constructed directly adjacent to active Taxiway Sierra, Taxiway Tango, and Southwest Airlines’ T4 S2 concourse. The Project encompassed work areas located in both airside and landside operational areas, requiring extensive coordination and partnering with the City of Phoenix Aviation Department, Airfield Operations, TSA, Southwest Airlines, and McCarthy to eliminate all impacts to Sky Harbor International Airport’s operations.

Milestone Road Opening for the Town of Queen Creek!

November 28th, 2022 – J. Banicki Construction opened the final 1-mile stretch of Meridian Road for the Town of Queen Creek, the fastest growing city in Arizona. We can’t thank the Town of Queen Creek enough for their outstanding partnership on this awesome project!

January 22nd, 2022 – Banicki Structural Superintendent Matt Hendrie has been named the 2022 Safety Champion of the Year by AGC of America. This one of one national award is an extreme honor, presented to a front-line supervisor who has led their company in achieving an exceptionally high degree of safety excellence. Banicki is privileged to have Matt on our Team, for his outstanding commitment to safety culture and team development are Core Values our company stands for.

AGC of America CEO Steve Sandherr and Milwaukee Tool National Director of Health and Safety Justin Azbill hosted a luncheon to honor Matt and present him with his prestigious award during the annual AGC Construction Safety and Health Conference in Glendale, Arizona in January. Matt has been instrumental in leading Banicki’s safety culture of achieving an Injury Free Environment (IFE). On top of being a dedicated father and husband, Matt volunteers his time with the Arizona Elk Society to take disabled veterans hunting. Matt gets immense joy taking disabled veterans on safe guided hunts when they otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity. As a health and safety advocate, Matt takes great pride in planning and executing these hunts for disabled veterans, spending countless hours scouting safe and accessible routes for the veterans. Matt is also a sawyer for the Arizona Elk Society with a license to operate a chain saw on national park land through the US Forest Service. As a sawyer, Matt promotes and performs the safe restoration of wildlife habitat throughout Elk range in Arizona.

Award-Winning Concrete Work for Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport’s Sky Train® Stage 2 Expansion

A four-year project in the making, Banicki performed award-winning concrete work for two of the three new stations on Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport’s Sky Train® Stage 2 expansion project. The $745M overall expansion project, expected to be complete and operational at the end of 2022, extends the Sky Train® automated transit system 2.5 miles from Terminal 3 to the Rental Car Center.
